Terms of Use

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1 About These Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the Developer of Teardrop ("we", "our", "us") about your use of the Teardrop mobile application and any related services ("the App").

By downloading, opening, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

These Terms apply whether you installed the App from the Apple App Store or from Google Play. Section 16 adds terms that apply only to the App Store, and section 17 adds a note that applies only to Google Play.

Your privacy is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

2 Who We Are

Teardrop is developed and operated by Ishaq Ahmed ("the Developer"), based in Denmark.

3 Eligibility and Your Account

4 What Teardrop Is, and What It Is Not

Teardrop is a journal. It lets you record that you cried, how it felt, and where you were, and to share that with people if you choose to.

Teardrop is not a medical service. It does not provide medical or psychological advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and nothing in the App should be treated as such. It is not monitored by clinicians, and no one is watching your entries for signs of crisis.

If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away. In Denmark, Livslinien can be reached on 70 201 201, open every day from 11:00 to 05:00, and offers anonymous chat at livslinien.dk. Elsewhere, your local emergency number will direct you.

5 Your Content

Everything you put into Teardrop — your notes, photos, voice recordings, comments, profile and the entries themselves — stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.

To run the App we need your permission to store your content and show it to the people you have chosen to show it to. By posting content you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy and display it only for the purpose of operating Teardrop and only to the audience your own visibility settings allow. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to advertise to other people.

This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that remain briefly in backups.

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.

6 Rules of Use

Teardrop is a place where people write about crying. That asks for some care. Do not use the App to:

7 Reporting, Moderation and Suspension

You can report a cry, a comment or a person from inside the App, and you can block someone so that neither of you sees the other.

We review reports and may remove content or restrict an account when these Terms are broken. Where it is reasonable we will say why, and you can reply to us at the address above. We may act without notice where content is clearly illegal or where someone is at risk.

We are one person, not a moderation team. We do not read or check content before it is posted, and we cannot promise to catch everything.

8 Teardrop Pro and Payments

Teardrop is free to use. Some features are part of a paid plan, Teardrop Pro, offered as a subscription or as a one-time purchase.

How you are charged

Cancelling and refunds

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA

You normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content and services that start immediately, that right can end once delivery has begun with your agreement, which is what you consent to at the moment of purchase. None of this takes away rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in, and where these Terms and that law disagree, that law wins.

9 Changes to the App

Teardrop is actively developed. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the App may be unavailable at times for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

If we ever have to stop running Teardrop altogether, we will give reasonable notice in the App where we can, so you have time to export or save what matters to you. If a paid plan is running at that point, unused time will be dealt with through the store you bought it from.

10 Advertising

The free version of Teardrop shows advertising. We do not control which specific adverts you see. Teardrop Pro removes advertising. How advertising data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

11 Third-Party Services

Teardrop runs on services provided by others, including hosting, maps, crash reporting, advertising and purchase handling. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they operate. The Privacy Policy names them.

12 Our Intellectual Property

The App itself, its name, its artwork including the teardrop emblems, its text and its code belong to the Developer and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use the App as it is meant to be used. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, or make derivative works from it, and you may not remove notices of ownership from it.

13 Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always work, that it will be free of faults, or that anything you store in it will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in. If that law gives you guarantees we cannot exclude, those guarantees still apply.

14 Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for loss of data arising from your use of the App.

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the event, or, if you have paid nothing, to the resupply of the service.

15 Ending Your Use

You can stop using Teardrop whenever you want, and you can delete your account from inside the App. Deleting your account removes your entries from the App as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why first.

16 Additional Terms for the Apple App Store

These apply only if you got Teardrop from the App Store.

17 A Note for Google Play

If you got Teardrop from Google Play, these Terms are between you and the Developer. Google is not a party to them and is not responsible for the App.

Nothing in these Terms is meant to take away or narrow any right that Google's own terms give you, including the right to reinstall an app you have paid for. Where these Terms and Google's terms disagree on such a right, Google's terms apply.

18 Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of Denmark.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

If you want to raise a problem, write to us first at hello.teardropapp@gmail.com. Most things are quicker to sort out that way. Consumers in the EU can also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.

19 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App changes or as the law requires. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change matters to you in a material way, we will give reasonable notice in the App before it takes effect. Continuing to use Teardrop after that means you accept the new Terms.
